I hope 1) Giant/Ahold/Martin’s cooks something that smells wonderful in your front yard; 2) that someday you’ll be able to write as meaningful a series about another grocery store; and 3) that Ukrop’s bakery keeps making all your favorites, and selling them to G/A/M.

OK, this one touched my heart. What a dear, dear man. I’ve been needing to stop in there on a Thursday morning just to see him—–last time I did, I got a big hug from him.

Pretty good attendance record! Dad remembers going to the Patterson Avenue store, which is now Gma and Gpa’s doctor’s office. Ironbridge—-Dad and I finally found purple and green paper plates the right size for Cameron’s graduation party. Dad, Cameron, Emily Collins and I ate at the other Wmsbg one after touring W&M. Finding the first Wmsbg one was an adventure on a Black Friday when the road wasn’t cut all the way thru to that one. We ate at the F’burg store on a trip back from Pop-Pop’s or a family reunion one time—-had to find it! The Roanoke one will always be remembered as a last family outing before your wedding—-Macado’s and Ukrop’s in the same night. Stratford Hills was my first Ukrop’s, and the one where a bag boy asked me when my baby was due, 6 weeks AFTER you were born. And you actually shopped two versions of the Chesterfield Store—-our first one is now a Bed, Bath and Beyond. That’s the store where Cameron screamed from one end to the other because Dad was pushing the grocery cart and I wasn’t.

We should publish a book of Ukrop’s memories. Wonder if anyone else has any?!?!?!?!

Reminds me of a list of church names from another VA organization I was looking at this week—-Bible Believing BC, Open Bible BC, The Lord’s Church—-so what are the rest of us????

But have you seen any purple shag carpet and 3′ diameter orange flower wallpaper yet? The best may be yet to come…that was our favorite 20 years ago…

We only looked at two for this one—–hope you don’t have to figure the extra 18 into your average.

Now on our first house, sometime Dad and I will have to think about how many we looked at. But, true to form, we saw 1608 Marble Head the first day out.
